Next Act Launches Public Fundraising Campaign to Continue Efforts to Save the Astra

Next Act, Inc., launched a public fundraising campaign at its sold out concert this past weekend as part of its ongoing effort to revitalize and rejuvenate the historic Astra Theatre.  The first portion of this ongoing campaign and its incentives will be available from now until the end of the 2016 calendar year.

Money generated from the fundraising campaign will be used for immediate needs such as installing an accessible restroom on the theatre’s main floor, as well as long term electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and general renovation needs.

“In its current shape, we are able to hold events in the Astra on a very limited basis due to its aging infrastructure and lack of accessibility issues,” said Jay Hamlin, Next Act’s vice president and fundraising campaign committee chair.  “Our end goal has always been to restore and renovate it so that it can become, yet again, a beacon of which our entire county can be proud and that can also help improve upon an already amazing quality of life in Dubois County.”

There are five investor/donor levels available in this first incentive period.  They are (monetary level followed by the donor incentive):

  • $100 +, Astra T-shirt
  • $250 +, 1 free pint of ice cream per month at Libby’s (limited to 100 max)
  • $500 +, 1 growler with 1 free refill per month at Klubhaus 61/Schnitzelbank  (limited to 100 max)
  • $1,000+, naming rights to 2 of the Astra’s historic first floor seats (limited to 140 max)
  • $2,500 +, naming rights to 2 of the Astra’s historic first floor seats, one Astra t-shirt, 1 free scoop of ice cream per month at Libby’s, 2 complementary tickets to any Next Act, Inc., event at the Astra in 2016, and 1 growler with 1 free refill per month at Klubhaus 61/Schnitzelbank.

Contributions to the Next Act’s public fundraising campaign can be made securely via paypal at www.TheNextAct.org.  There is also a downloadable/printable donor form that can be filled out and returned via postal mail (checks made payable to “Next Act, Inc.”) to:  The Next Act, P.O. Box 23, Jasper, Indiana 47547.

A corporate campaign is currently in development and will be launched soon.  Interested corporations can also email info@TheNextAct.org to request specific information.

“We have had unbelievable corporate, non-profit, and private support to this point,” said Leslie Hamby, Next Act’s chairperson.  “The Astra is, clearly, and with good reason, a sentimental favorite in Dubois County.  We are hopeful that this first true opportunity for the general public to participate in the ‘Save the Astra’ campaign will be as successful as our prior efforts.”
