Next Act, Inc, the non-profit organization that owns and operates the historic Astra Theatre in Jasper, Indiana, releases the first half of their 2019 season. Newly renovated with 357 seats, the Astra has main level and balcony seating with a concessions stand offering snacks, local craft and domestic beer, and wine that are available for purchase.
This is the second season of entertainment in the theatre since major renovations took place in 2017. Through the end of July, another seven public events will take place on the Jim and Pat Thyen Performance Stage.
Tickets are on sale to the public now for each of these events at www.TheNextAct.org. Next Act has reached out directly via email to both season ticket holders on how to reserve their tickets and 2019 Business Members who are eligible for a $1.00 discount on all ticket purchases.
The season kicks of this weekend, on Saturday, February 23 with a 30th anniversary screening of When Harry Met Sally. This is a general admission event with tickets being $8.00 each. The movie will begin at 7:00pm EST. Celebrate the season of love with this classic romantic comedy, rated R.
Then, on Friday, March 22, Iris DeMent will take the stage with opening act Pieta Brown. You can get tickets to see this two-time Grammy nominated artist for $24.95 for general admission or upgrade to a VIP package which includes preferred seating, reserved parking, and a drink voucher for only $39.95. The night of entertainment will begin at 7:30pm EST.
The fun will just be beginning when comedian Costaki Economopoulos delivers his stand-up routine on Friday, April 12 at 7:30pm EST. Don’t miss the chance to see this self-proclaimed “biggest name in comedy” who regularly appears on the nationally syndicated Bob & Tom Show. Tickets are general admission and available for $14.95.
Get your part of the spring training action by joining us to view the classic baseball movie Major League at 7:00pm EST on Saturday, April 20 for only $8.00 a ticket. Enjoy the 30th anniversary screening of the movie in which the teams’ owner and the players work against one another, rated R.
Cris Jacobs will be the next act to rock the house on Saturday, May 18, at 7:30pm EST. The singer, songwriter, guitarist will perform this concert just after the release of his upcoming album “Color Where You Are.” This is a reserved seating show, and tickets are $20.00 each.
Jump into a chalk drawing to experience the Disney classic Mary Poppins on Saturday, June 1, as we partner with Jasper Community Arts and their annual Chalk Walk event. Wrap up your day by joining us at 7:00pm for $8.00 a ticket. Movie is rated G.
In the heat of the summer, watch the competition get hot with our second annual Rock Lotto on Saturday, July 20 at 7:00pm EST. The unique event will take 12 local musicians, divide them into three bands, and perform five songs each. General admission tickets are only $10.00.
