Astra’s Marquee Re-Lighting Date Set for April 11

The historic Astra’s recently renovated and refurbished iconic sign and marquee is set to be relit for the first official time on Wednesday, April 11, at 7:30 p.m.  The marquee lighting event will, effectively, also serve as a ribbon-cutting of sorts for the soon-to-be 83-year-old facility as it heads into its first official event since being renovated—a sold out Will Kimbrough and Patrick Sweany performance on Saturday, April 14.

Members of the media and public, alike, are invited and encouraged to attend the marquee lighting event.

“This has been a labor of love for our organization, but, without the tremendous and ongoing support of this community, this building would not be in the shape it is today,” said Marc Steczyk, president of Next Act, the 501c3 that owns the iconic venue.  “The refurbished marquee is a strong symbol of what our community can do when working together and we hope that there are many out there that would like to come down and see it re-lit for the first official time.”

In addition to its sold out grand re-opening performance on April 14, the Astra is scheduled to host East Nashville’s Smooth Hound Smith on Saturday, May 12. Tickets are still available for that performance and can be purchased at www.TheNextAct.org.
