Early in planning for the Astra we were approached to setup an endowment with the Dubois County Community Foundation. At the time we were still also trying to raise money to purchase the theatre. It seemed a bit backwards to start with the endowment but only two years after renovating and opening the Astra our doors were shut due to the pandemic. So many stages across our country have shut their doors for good. We are so lucky to have the safety that the yearly returns on an endowment bring. So this year in lieu of our normal fundraising campaign we're going to grow our endowment fund. We believe strongly this will help prepare the Astra for future sucess and also to continue to weather any unforseen event. We'll be matching all donations until the end of December 2020 up to $50,000.

At the Astra we've been very lucky to have been in a situation that closing our doors did not threaten the Astra Theatre. Early in our planning we setup an endowment with the Dubois County Community Foundation which yearly we receive funds to help us weather any unforeseen circumstances. So this year we've decided instead of our normal fundraising campaign we would add donations towards our endowment to strengthen our future sustainability. We believe in it so strongly in our endowment that we have decided to match donations up to $50,000 with our own funds until the end of December 2020.
